Leaving the house this morning the temperature was only 12 degrees with rain drizzling down on me.  After all the hot weather we have had recently, this is giving me hope.

Hope, that maybe all the collective prayers and thoughts have helped, and that mother nature is calming down and hopefully sending some much needed rain to all the affected bush fire areas.

The sheer scale and devastation of these catastrophic fires is just unimaginable. It is impossible to comprehend what this will all mean for the communities involved, our flora and wildlife, our nation and even globally.

Our hearts go out to everyone affected.

And a huge thank you to everyone who is helping at the frontline and with donations. It’s really heart-warming to see so much love and compassion and how people open up their homes to welcome strangers.

As most of you have already heard; the first priority for everyone who wants to support victims of the bushfires is to make a monetary donation to the organisations currently on the front line. These are the Australian Red Cross, the Salvation ArmyVinniesFoodbank Victoria, WIRES and state-based fire brigades.

It’s still early days, but we have to start thinking about how we can support these communities once the fires are out. This is when goods donations will be really needed. So maybe think about what you have around the house that you don’t need that might be much appreciated by a family who has lost everything?

Below is a list of charities that are on the front line, but also other charities that will start taking goods and monetary donations.

Please donate as little or as much as you can, every bit helps. No amount is too small.

Even if you can’t give money or if you can’t give today. That is fine. It will be a long road to recovery and there will be lots of help and donations needed. We all have to support each other where we can.
