After studying Architecture in his birth country of Colombia, Juan went on to work for builders and developers on multi residential and commercial projects. After 5 years, Juan then moved to Germany where he studied the Masters of Science Climate Design in Munich, which was motivated by an interest in sustainability and building physics.
In 2017 Juan and his wife moved to Australia, where they now call home. Since settling here, Juan has worked for various firms in the residential and commercial sectors before joining the Gruen Eco Design family.
Most happy working at the intersection of sustainability and residential design, Juan appreciates all architectural styles but believes function, environment and technology are the back bone to good building design.
5 years from now Juan is hoping build his own rammed earth home here in Australia and start a family. Professionally he would like to continuing his work on sustainable projects.
A geek at heart (his words), in his spare time he likes all things movies, anime and videogames.
“To paraphrase one of my favourite Colombian Architects, Ernesto Jimenez; We don’t work to be the exception, we strive to become the norm.” – Juan
