Passive House Balwyn North - Australia's best home winner - Sustainability
AS SEEN ON CHANNEL NINES AUSTRALIA’S BEST HOME 2022
This beautiful home in Balwyn North is a split level SIPs (Structural Insulated Panel) house which follows the slope of the land, in order to comply with the height regulations and in order to avoid the need of a town planning permit. This design also captures the spectacular views of Melbourne’s inner north east.
We are so proud of this design and honoured (but not surprised) that it was nominated for Australia Best Home, the first Passive House to featured on this show. We had so much fun being part of the filming and thank you to Black Brick Home Staging for helping make this already beautiful home TV ready and to the owners for allowing us access to their family home for the day.
But we were very surprised to learn that we had won the category SUSTAINABILITY!!! What an achievement for all involved. And a special thanks to our amazing clients that made it all possible.
This passive house is a marvel of modern design and sustainability and offers an impressive list of features and design elements that make it a standout in its class.
The exterior of the house has a sleek, modern look that is sure to impress. The use of SIPs not only makes the home more energy-efficient, but it also allows for a more streamlined and contemporary design. The split-level layout is also a unique touch that gives the house an open and airy feel.
As you enter the home, you are immediately struck by the spaciousness of the kitchen, living, and dining area. This area is perfect for entertaining, with plenty of room for guests to gather and mingle. The living area opens up to a covered outdoor alfresco and garden, perfect for enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
The kitchen is a true chef’s delight, with high-end appliances and a large walk-in pantry that provides ample storage space. The laundry room is also conveniently located nearby, making it easy to multi-task and get things done.
Downstairs, there is a music room and guest room/study, which could easily be converted into a home office or playroom. The pompos open staircase with feature lighting above adds a touch of drama and elegance to the space.
Upstairs, the gigantic master bedroom features a racked ceiling, adding an interesting architectural detail to the room. The huge walk-in robe provides plenty of storage space, while the big ensuite offers a luxurious retreat from the stresses of daily life. The parents’ retreat is a perfect place to unwind and relax.
There are also two kids’ bedrooms, each with their own walk-in robe, and a kids’ bathroom. This makes the house perfect for families with children of all ages.
Overall, the architecturally designed passive house in Balwyn North is a stunning example of sustainable and energy-efficient living. Its thoughtful design and attention to detail make it a truly unique and remarkable home that is sure to impress anyone who visits.
