Renovation templestowe lower - under construction

There clients were referred to us by a friend. They had started the design process with someone else. But had ended up with a beautiful big extension, that sadly they were not able to afford all that was designed. And also the extension was much larger than the actually needed.

So we looked at it with a fresh eye. They only needed one more bedroom and the kitchen was a little bit too small. We managed to shuffle some things around internally. We turned the over sized entry area into the missing bedroom and created a new entry at the side of the house, into the previously under used rumpus area.
The only extension we did was that the kitchen wall got dragged out by approx. 600mm to be aligned with the existing roofing above. And voila. Suddenly we had space for a small pantry. And together with the new windows the kitchen feels bright and spacious.

Less can often be more 😉

There is still a lot of work that needs to be done on the outside of the house. But at least the inside is done.

However, the thing that excites us the most is that according to the clients the house now performs beautifully. The previously cold and draughty house is nw a well performing family home. Mission achieved 😉

Meaning the retrofitted insulation and the replacement of all the existing windows with double glazed units has really made a huge difference.

For now, I only have some photos that I did, and some progress shots from our amazing builder Andrew Rosier from Eco Craft. Once the outside is finished we will get some more professional photos done.

PS: Check out the last photos. On how it used to look…
